BE SKEPTICAL, BUT LEARN TO LISTEN

BE SKEPTICAL, BUT LEARN TO LISTEN

  • Don’t believe yourself or anybody else.
  • Use the power of doubt to question everything you hear: Is it really the truth?
  • Listen to the intent behind word, and you will understand the real message.

THE FIFTH AGREEMENT

  1. BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD
  2. DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
  3. DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS
  4. ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST
  5. BE SKEPTICAL, BUT LEARN TO LISTEN

Ah, I’m not sure about, “Don’t believe yourself or anybody else.” Sounds like a nihilistic (believing in nothing?) point of view. I think I believe in a number of things, none of which I can prove. So…to the person who posted the first bullet point – what say you? Skeptically, hopefully, awaiting a response.

Dear David, the 5 agreements all come from the book: The Fifth Agreement by, Don Miguel Ruiz and Don Joe Ruiz. The Fifth Agreement is a Practical Guide to Self-Mastery encourages us to see the truth, to recover all the power of selves authenticity, and to change the message we deliver not only to ourselves, but to everyone around us. Would you like to borrow the book?
    Take care, Furlong
